Two military members bump their fists together

Self-storage is a great way to store your belongings when you don't have enough space in your home. While it can be expensive, there are ways to get the best deal on self-storage in Wichita, Kansas. One way is to take advantage of self-storage military discounts. They are available at many storage facilities, so be sure to ask about them when you're shopping around.

Here are five tips for getting the best deal on self-storage in Wichita, Kansas:

How to Get the Best Deal on Self-Storage

1. Compare prices and features of different self-storage facilities

When looking for self-storage, it's essential to do your research and compare prices and features. This will help you find the best deal possible and get exactly what you need from your self-storage facility.

To get quotes from multiple facilities, start by reaching out to a few different places in your area. Some self-storage providers may offer discounts or special promotions, so ask about any available deals.

Not all self-storage facilities post their rates online, so it's always best to call and ask for a quote if you can't find the information you're looking for online.

Look no further than South Rock Storage for affordable self-storage in Wichita, Kansas. We are conveniently located at 8282 East Oak Knoll St., and with our reasonable rates and military discounts, we're an excellent choice for military members. 2. Inquire about military discounts

Self-storage discounts for military members are a great way to save on storage rental costs. Most self-storage facilities in Wichita, KS, offer a discount to military personnel, so it's definitely worth asking when shopping for a self-storage unit. McConnell Air Force Base is up the road from South Rock Storage, so call or visit our facility to inquire about our latest military discounts.

Self-storage military discounts can range from a percentage of the rental rate to a waived security deposit, so be sure to ask about the details when speaking with a self-storage facility representative.

With the money you save with a self-storage military discount, you'll be able to put it towards other important things, like groceries or your monthly car payment. So don't forget to inquire about self-storage military discounts the next time you're looking for a place to store your belongings!

3. Look for coupons and deals

Looking for the best deal on self-storage can sometimes be a challenge. After all, there are so many options, and it can feel overwhelming trying to sort through them all. But the good news is that there are many ways to find coupons and deals on self-storage.

For one thing, you can often find coupons or discounts online through self-storage facilities or websites that specialize in listing deals and coupons for a wide range of products and services.

You can also look for offers in your local newspaper or other print publications. By shopping around and keeping an eye out for special discounts, you can easily find a suitable self-storage facility at a price that fits your budget.

4. Ask about special promotions

Many self-storage facilities offer special promotions from time to time. If you're looking to save money, be sure to ask about any special promotions that may be going on. You may be able to get a discount for signing up for a more extended rental period or for paying in advance.

Some facilities also offer discounts for referrals, so if you know someone looking for storage, be sure to mention it. By taking advantage of special promotions, you can often get a great deal on the storage you need.

5. Pack your belongings carefully to avoid damage and maximize space

When you're packing your belongings for storage, it's essential to take a few extra minutes to pack them carefully. This will help avoid damage and make the most of the space in your storage unit.

Start by wrapping delicate items in bubble wrap or padding them with soft fabric. Then, use storage bins and boxes to group items and make the most of the space.

Fill any empty spaces with crumpled-up newspaper or fabric to help prevent damage. And be sure to label everything so you can find it easily when you need it.

With extra care, you can avoid damage and make the most of your storage unit.

Storage 101: The 5 Kinds of Self Storage

There are five main types of self-storage, and each one caters to a different need. Read on to find out which type is right for you, and start storing your belongings today!

Self-storage is a great way to store your belongings when you don't have a lot of space. But with so many different types of self-storage, it can be hard to know which one is right for you. We're here to help. This article will discuss the five most common types of self-storage and help you decide which one is right for you based on your specific needs. What Are the Different Types of Self-Storage? 1. Traditional self-storage Traditional self-storage is the most common storage solution available today and the method we specialize in here at South Rock Storage! This method involves renting a storage unit from a company that specializes in self-storage and provides a variety of sizes to meet your needs. The first step in using traditional self-storage is to select the correct size unit for your needs. Units vary in size, so we must first determine what you need to store. For example, a smaller unit would likely suffice if you are looking to store documents and books. At the same time, more oversized items like furniture or machinery may require a much larger unit. Overall, traditional self-storage is an affordable, convenient option for storing all kinds of items safely and securely. 2. Portable self-storage Portable self-storage is a convenient and flexible solution for those who need to store extra belongings. Unlike traditional self-storage, you don't have to rent a space at a storage facility. Instead, the storage company will deliver a container to your home or business. You'll have a certain amount of time to fill it up, and then they'll pick it up and store it for you. Portable self-storage can be a great option if you're moving houses or renovating your home, as you'll have more control over when and where your belongings are stored. And because the container is delivered directly to you, it's easier to load than if you were renting a space at a storage facility. The downside is that accessing your stored items is not as easy as with traditional self-storage. Portable self-storage could be the perfect option if you're looking for a flexible and convenient storage solution. 3. Climate-controlled self-storage Climate-controlled self-storage is a type of storage typically kept at a constant temperature and humidity level to protect your belongings from damage caused by extreme temperatures. This type of storage is a good option for storing sensitive items, such as electronics or furniture. Climate-controlled self-storage units are often located indoors, where they are less likely to be exposed to extreme temperatures. In addition, climate-controlled units often have additional features, such as air filters and dehumidifiers, to further protect your belongings. If you live in an area with extreme weather conditions like Wichita, Kansas, or if you want to be extra cautious, climate-controlled self-storage may be the best option. 4. Vehicle self-storage When you need to store a vehicle for an extended period, your best option is a vehicle self-storage facility. These facilities are designed to keep cars, boats, RVs, and other vehicles. They are typically located inside a warehouse or large parking lot, which provides added security and protection for your vehicle. Vehicle self-storage facilities also typically have security cameras and gate access control to further deter crime. In addition, many facilities offer climate-controlled storage units to protect your vehicle from extreme weather conditions. When choosing a vehicle self-storage facility, select one that offers the security and protection features you require. 5. Mini-warehouse storage Mini-warehouse storage is an excellent option for businesses that need more space to store inventory or equipment. Unlike traditional self-storage units, which are typically much smaller, mini-warehouses offer a large amount of space for storing more oversized items and large quantities of supplies. Additionally, these storage facilities often provide additional amenities, such as climate control and security features, which are ideal for businesses with valuable inventory. Ultimately, mini-warehouse storage is a flexible and convenient solution for businesses that need more space while still having the peace of mind that their belongings are adequately protected. Which Type of Self-Storage Is Right for You? Now that you know the different types of self-storage, you may be wondering which one is right for you. Ultimately, the type of self-storage you choose will depend on your specific needs and budget. If you're looking for traditional self-storage, consider the size of your belongings and whether climate control is necessary. Climate-controlled self-storage may be the best option if you have sensitive items or are storing a vehicle. On the other hand, if you need a lot of space to store inventory or equipment, mini-warehouse storage may be the right choice. Whatever type of self-storage you choose, research your options and compare the different facilities carefully. Proper research will help ensure that you find a facility that meets all your needs and provides the best value for your money. Final Thoughts Self-storage is a fantastic solution for those who need extra space to store their belongings. With so many different types of self-storage, there's sure to be an option that's right for you. Consider your specific needs and budget when choosing a self-storage option. And, be sure to research your options and compare different facilities to find the best value for your money. Boat Storage: a Guide for Self-Storage

At South Rock Storage, we understand that your boat is a big investment. That's why we offer secure storage units to help you protect your investment.

We understand that your boat is a significant investment at South Rock Storage. That's why we offer secure storage units to help you protect your investment. Whether you need to store your boat for the winter or you're looking for long-term storage, we have a unit that will fit your needs. As you prepare to store with South Rock Storage, follow our helpful guide for proper storage to ensure your boat is ready for the next season. Please note that these are our recommendations. Do your research, and consult your owner's manual for specific instructions. Clean your boat To prepare your boat for storage, we recommend cleaning it thoroughly and drying it completely. This will help to prevent mold and mildew from forming. Be sure to clean all surfaces, including the hull, deck, upholstery, and carpets. If you have a canvas cover, clean it and ensure it is dry before storing it. Remove all items from the boat Before you store your boat, be sure to remove all items from the boat, including life jackets, fishing gear, and any other personal belongings. This will help to protect your belongings and prevent them from being damaged during storage. Drain all fluids It's crucial to drain all fluids from your boat before storing it. This includes fuel, oil, and coolant. If possible, open all hatches and compartments to allow air to circulate. Be sure to consult your owner's manual for specific instructions on how to do this. Use a dehumidifier If you are storing your boat in an enclosed space, it is essential to take measures to prevent mold and mildew from forming. One way to do this is to use a dehumidifier to help keep the air dry. Mold and mildew need moist conditions to grow, so by keeping the air dry and circulating, you can help to discourage their growth. Dehumidifiers work by removing moisture from the air, which can help prevent mold and mildew from taking hold. In addition, it is important to ensure that the space is well-ventilated. Remove the battery When you're getting your boat ready for storage, one of the most important things to do is to remove the battery. If you leave the battery in the boat, it's likely to leak and cause damage. The best way to avoid this is to remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. If you don't have a place to store the battery, you can always disconnect it from the boat and leave it outside. Just be sure to cover it so that it doesn't get wet or damaged by the elements. Taking these simple precautions can help prevent your battery from leaking and damaging your boat. Cover your boat If you're storing your boat for an extended time, we recommend covering it with a tarp. This will help to protect it from the elements and keep it clean while in storage. Tarps and shrink wrap are relatively inexpensive, and they can save you a lot of time and money in the long run by protecting your boat from the sun, wind, and rain. Repair damages before storage As the boating season closes, it's important to consider how you'll store your boat for the winter. While some people opt to keep their boat in the water year-round, this can be costly and cause wear and tear on the hull. For most people, storing the boat on land makes more sense. However, simply putting your boat in storage is not enough. It would be best if you took the time to prepare your boat for storage properly. This means fixing anything that is broken, worn, or damaged. By taking care of repairs now, you can avoid long wait times and higher costs later. Plus, you'll be able to hit the water as soon as the weather warms up! Double check your owner's manual Many people believe that their insurance will cover any damage that occurs to their boat. However, most carriers only provide coverage for accidents and acts of God, not damages caused by a lack of maintenance. You could face a hefty repair bill if your boat is not properly winterized or stored. Luckily, winterizing and storing your boat doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. Taking a few simple precautions can help ensure that your boat stays in good condition all season long. Just be sure to consult the owner's manual for specific instructions on how to winterize and store your particular model. Prepare your boat to store While the requirements to store a boat are different in every case, some best practices apply to all. Please consult with the owner's manual specific to your boat, but we recommend the following at a minimum. Be sure to give your boat a thorough cleaning inside and out. Besides cleaning your boat, this gives you time to discover anything that might need repair before putting your boat away until the spring. After cleaning your boat, apply a rust inhibitor to your steering and control cables. Choose the right storage facility Regarding boat storage, there are a few things to consider to ensure your boat is adequately taken care of: First, you'll want to make sure the facility has proper security in place to deter any would-be thieves. Next, you'll want to confirm that the storage unit is big enough to accommodate your boat. Finally, you'll want to ask about the facility's policy on storing boats during inclement weather. This is important to know in case you need to make alternate arrangements for your boat in the event of a storm. By taking the time to find a storage facility that meets all of your needs, you can rest assured that your boat will be safe and sound until you're ready to hit the open water again. Being in the business since 2006, South Rock Storage understands the importance of finding the proper storage solution for your boat. That's why we offer secure, spacious storage units that can accommodate boats of all sizes. The above tips on preparing your boat for storage are only recommendations. Make sure to consult your owner's instruction manual for specific guidelines on how to prepare your boat for storage.
